Welcome to A New World of Fertility with K9 Professional Services

Having remarkable field experience in veterinary sciences, we are confident in providing a number of canine fertility services at K9 fertility clinic in London and neighbouring areas. We are typically veterinarians who have received additional training and education in the field of canine reproduction.

Our professional veterinary staff is highly expert in dog breeding. Especially in female dogs, we have a thorough understanding of the breeding cycle from pre-breeding to post-breeding. Moreover, we have a deeper yet practical knowledge and expertise in diagnosing and treating fertility issues in male and female dogs, performing artificial insemination, and providing guidance on breeding practices and techniques. Apart from this, we also offer services of semen collection and analysis, pregnancy scanning, and whelping assistance.

Progesterone Testing

Dog progesterone testing is a crucial tool used in veterinary medicine for breeding purposes. At the K9 fertility clinic, we measure the levels of progesterone hormone in female dogs during their reproductive cycle. Progesterone plays a vital role in maintaining pregnancy and determining the optimal time for dog breeding.

Semen Analysis

Dog semen analysis is an important procedure conducted to evaluate the quality and fertility of a male dog's sperm. We attain beneficial information by semen analysis, i.e., sperm count, motility, morphology and viability, which are involved in canine reproduction. They give valuable insights into the overall dog’s health and fertility potential.

Dog ultrasound scanning is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging technique that utilises sound waves that are particularly valuable for assessing the reproductive system of female dogs. We use it to detect and monitor pregnancy and identify potential issues such as uterine infections, ovarian abnormalities, and the presence of fluid-filled cysts.

Semen Chilling & Shipping

Dog Semen chilling is a technique used to preserve and store canine semen for an extended period. It involves cooling the semen to a specific temperature, typically around 2-8℃, to slow its metabolic activity and extend its viability. At K9 Fertility Clinic, we collect, process, and evaluate the semen to ensure meeting the required quality standards.

Micro Chipping

Microchipping serves as a permanent method of identification for dogs. This microchip contains a unique identification number that can be scanned by a compatible microchip reader. At K9 fertility Clinic, we typically implant a microchip between the shoulder blades of the dogs and track the dog owners via the dog's details in a central database.

Blood Testing

Dog blood testing is necessary for the dog's health and well-being. We do blood tests of male and female dogs for breeding purposes or any other disease to diagnose. But particularly for fertilisation, we examine the sample from the arm or vagina under the microscope. Thus, we can predict the breeding time and chances of fertilisation.

The Stages
of Pregnancy

It’s important to note that while a female dog can develop a split season, the typical oestrus cycle lasts around 21 days. During this time, the female may be receptive to mating, and she may display physical and behavioural changes such as swelling of the vulva, changes in vaginal discharge, and increased interest in male dogs.

Cytology or Progesterone Testing

It can help determine the optimal time for breeding, as ovulation typically occurs up to day 14 of the estrus cycle. By timing the breeding correctly, the chances of a successful pregnancy can be increased.

Artificial Insemination

It’s a common method used to breed dogs, and it can offer a higher success rate than natural breeding. Two inseminations are typically performed to increase the chances of pregnancy.

Ultrasound Scans

This scanning is performed to confirm pregnancy and determine the number of puppies expected. In some cases, a Caesarean (C – Section) may be necessary if there are complications during delivery.
